What’s up?!   My name is Nathan, and I am an admissions counselor at Northland.

This is my Sophomore year here at school and I am absolutely loving it.  I’m from Marietta Georgia, it’s about 25 minutes northwest of Atlanta. I have two brothers, (14 and 17) one really cool 5 year old sister, and the best parents in the world.  I’ve been dating my girlfriend Ashley for well over a year now, and she’s amazing.

I like cars, work, and sports (although I don’tplay any here at school).  I played Basketball in high school.  I grew up working landscaping with my dad, and my brother and I took over the business when I turned 16. When I’m home I still work with my brothers… I  love work.  I have a ’71 Ford f-100 pick-up truck named “Sweetpea”. It’s pea green and tons of fun.

My favorite hobby when I am home is just tinkering on the old truck.  I re-built the engine 2 years ago and got a few more horses out of it.  :-) I haven’t done much more mechanically to it since then, mainly because of school.

I am studying Biblical Studies with an emphasis in Pastoral Studies.  My future plans are to get married after school.  After that I want to be a youth pastor - I love working with youth.  I worked at The Wilds Christian Camp in North Carolina for the past two summers, first on landscape crew and then as a counselor.  Eventually, I’m not sure how long I will be a youth pastor, I would like to plant a church and pastor it for as long as the Lord leads.  I’m not sure where He is calling me to go, but I have plenty of time to find out what He wants me to do.

I chose Northland during my Senior year of high school.  I had actually never even heard of the School until the summer before that year.  I was at a youth conference in south Georgia, and a ministry team there really made an impact on me.  I prayed about coming here for three months, and after visiting in late March of my Senior year I realized this is where the Lord wanted me.  A couple things really stood out to me when I visited.  I recognized the friendliness of the people here right off.  The students were great, and the teachers were very friendly, personable, approachable, and knowledgeable.  The environment at NBBC was also another thing that stood out to me.  The atmosphere here is much like that of camp.  I felt like the students wanted to be here, like they were excited about school.  After having been at school here for almost a year and a half I have found that all of my first impressions were true.  Northland is a unique place that provides challenging academics, and a purpose of training people for vocational Christian service.  I am glad that the Lord led me here in the way that He did.
